The Rotary Club of Saint Albans is excited to announce its third annual district-wide speech contest, an event that gives Franklin County High School students the chance to demonstrate their public speaking skills and compete for prizes while building confidence and leadership abilities.
The first round of the contest for Franklin County High School students is scheduled for February 10th at Peoples Trust Company on Kingman St, in Saint Albans.
The winner of this round will receive a prize of $200 as long as they participate in the Round 2 contest. There are a total of 4 rounds. The winner of all rounds will achieve a total prize amount $1,750.
Rotary International President Francesco Arezzo suggested that peace begins by knowing and caring for your neighbor.
The Speech Contest Topic is: How can we be instruments of peace?
Students are asked to prepare and deliver a five-minute speech which relates this topic to their life, school, neighbors and Rotary values. The speech does not need to be memorized but does need to be written and submitted prior to presenting.
To register to compete or for more information regarding contest rules and eligibility visit www.rotary7850.org, check with your local high school or reach out to the Rotary Club at stalbansrotaryclub.com.
“As Rotarians, we’re excited to support this speech contest and look forward to strong participation. It reflects Rotary’s commitment to empowering young people and helping local students develop confidence and public speaking skills in a fun, supportive environment.”
—Stacey Cauller, PTC Human Resources Director, Rotarian, and cohost of the Speech Contest.
